Better Medicare Alliance Statement on the Election of Joe Biden as President of the United States

Washington, D.C. (November 9, 2020) – Better Medicare Alliance (BMA), the leading research and advocacy organization supporting Medicare Advantage, responded today to the outcome of the November 3rd election for President of the United States.

“Better Medicare Alliance congratulates President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their victory. After a long campaign, an unprecedented number of Americans voted – even in the midst of a pandemic. Their votes have been tallied and the result is clear and decisive. It is time to move forward.” said Allyson Y. Schwartz, President and CEO of the Better Medicare Alliance. “As a nonpartisan organization committed to growing and strengthening Medicare Advantage, we appreciate the work of the previous Administration and the strong support for Medicare Advantage’s integrated, quality, and affordable care that is valued by 25 million Medicare beneficiaries across the country.”

Schwartz added, “The story of Medicare Advantage is one this new administration can be proud to continue. First enacted under President Bill Clinton as ‘Medicare Plus Choice’, Medicare Advantage today earns support from a bipartisan, supermajority of Congress, and the satisfaction of 99 percent of beneficiaries. We stand ready to work with President-elect Biden, Vice President-elect Harris, and their team to build on this bipartisan success story. We extend our sincerest well wishes to the Biden-Harris administration and pledge our partnership in the effort to continue the drive to value-based, affordable, quality, equitable health care for the nation’s growing Medicare population.”
