Better Medicare Alliance Statement on Proposed Policy and Technical Changes to Medicare Advantage for 2026
WASHINGTON — Better Medicare Alliance, the nation’s leading research and advocacy organization supporting Medicare Advantage, issued a statement responding to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) proposed rule detailing policy and technical changes to Medicare Advantage for the 2026 Contract Year:
“As we conduct a more thorough review of the proposed rule, we will be assessing the potential impact on more than 34 million Americans enrolled in Medicare Advantage,” said Mary Beth Donahue, President and CEO of Better Medicare Alliance. “Today, more than half of Medicare-eligible beneficiaries choose Medicare Advantage for better care at a lower cost than Fee-For-Service. But despite consistent premiums, recent Medicare Advantage policy changes have caused coverage disruptions for millions of seniors, with plan closures, higher costs, and reduced benefits. Right now, seniors need stability, and federal policymaking should reflect that. Better Medicare Alliance shares CMS’s priorities of improving the beneficiary experience, ensuring seniors and people with disabilities can make informed choices, and advancing timely, appropriate access to high-quality, affordable care.”
