Better Medicare Alliance Statement on House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee Markup
WASHINGTON — Better Medicare Alliance (BMA) issued the following statement today from Mary Beth Donahue, President and CEO of Better Medicare Alliance, on the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee markup:
“Better Medicare Alliance welcomes the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee’s continued focus on strengthening Medicare Advantage for seniors. BMA supports meaningful transparency and accountability that provide beneficiaries, policymakers, and taxpayers with accurate, actionable information about how the program is serving seniors.
“As the Subcommittee considers several Medicare Advantage transparency proposals, we are continuing to review their specific provisions and look forward to working constructively with lawmakers to ensure any final policies produce useful information, protect beneficiary privacy, and avoid duplicative or unnecessary administrative requirements that could divert resources from patient care.
“BMA also reaffirms our longstanding support for the bipartisan Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act. This commonsense legislation would modernize prior authorization, increase transparency, reduce administrative burdens, and help seniors receive medically necessary care more quickly. We thank Representatives Kelly and DelBene and the members of the Subcommittee for advancing this important legislation.”
