December 15, 2020 Data Brief: Medicare Beneficiaries Who Are Most Unlikely to Get a Flu Shot
This data brief, commissioned by the Better Medicare Alliance and conducted by ATI Advisory, evaluated which Medicare populations are most likely to not receive an annual flu vaccine. Using 2018 Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) data, the brief explains that 41% of Medicare beneficiaries below the poverty level went without a flu vaccine in 2018. Likewise, 37% of African American Medicare beneficiaries missed out on this immunization. Medicare Advantage outperformed Traditional Medicare on vaccination rates.
