BMA Responds to CMS’s 2024 Medicare Advantage Premiums and Enrollment Projections

Premiums to remain stable and a record-setting 33.8 million expected to choose enrollment in Medicare Advantage

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Better Medicare Alliance, the nation’s leading research and advocacy organization supporting Medicare Advantage, responded today to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) 2024 Medicare Advantage premiums and enrollment projections.

CMS projects that a record-setting 33.8 million seniors and individuals with disabilities will make an active choice to enroll in Medicare Advantage in 2024, a projection that adds two million beneficiaries to the current number of enrollees.

“As seniors weigh their options during the 2024 Medicare Open Enrollment Period, Medicare Advantage offers a reported annual savings of more than $2,400 on out-of-pocket costs and premiums, making quality health care affordable, particularly for the increasingly more rural, diverse and economically disadvantaged population Medicare Advantage serves,” said Mary Beth Donahue, President and CEO of the Better Medicare Alliance. “It’s easy to see why CMS is projecting that a record-setting 33.8 million Americans will enroll in Medicare Advantage in 2024.”

Donahue continued, “We look forward to our ongoing partnership with CMS, particularly as policy changes are implemented over the coming years, to ensure stability in the Medicare Advantage program and the cost savings it provides to beneficiaries.”

Medicare’s annual Open Enrollment Period runs from October 15 – December 7, 2023.
