Better Medicare Alliance Statement on Senate Confirmation of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
WASHINGTON —Better Medicare Alliance (BMA), the nation’s leading research and advocacy organization supporting Medicare Advantage, responded today to the Senate confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS):
“We congratulate Secretary Kennedy on his confirmation and stand ready to work with him to protect and strengthen Medicare Advantage for America’s seniors,” said Mary Beth Donahue, President and CEO of the Better Medicare Alliance. “As Secretary Kennedy has highlighted, health care works better for everyone with a holistic approach that prioritizes preventive care and healthier habits. That is exactly what Medicare Advantage is all about.
“More than 34 million Americans choose Medicare Advantage because it delivers better health outcomes and comprehensive benefits at a lower cost to beneficiaries than Fee-For-Service Medicare. It’s no surprise that Medicare Advantage is now the Medicare program of choice for more than half of beneficiaries. But two years of Medicare Advantage cuts have hurt seniors, resulting in plan closures, higher costs, and fewer benefits. Our seniors need stability in their health care, and corrective action cannot wait.
“Secretary Kennedy and this administration can keep President Trump’s promise to protect Medicare for seniors by supporting Medicare Advantage with adequate funding and a stable regulatory approach. We look forward to working with Secretary Kennedy and policymakers across the aisle to get this done.”
