WASHINGTON – Better Medicare Alliance (BMA) President and CEO Allyson Y. Schwartz released the following response to a statement released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) today on 2016 projections for Medicare Advantage premiums and enrollment:

“For the 17 million seniors currently enrolled in Medicare Advantage, increasing evidence of higher quality of care, access to robust benefits, and stable premiums underscores why Medicare Advantage is an attractive option. For more seniors each year, Medicare Advantage is the preferred choice for comprehensive, high quality health care coverage.

“The recent release from CMS reported that 65 percent of Medicare Advantage enrollees are currently enrolled in plans earning top quality ratings. The focus Medicare Advantage plans have given to meeting quality measures while increasing access to critical benefits for enrollees is an important trend for Medicare.

“After numerous legislative and regulatory changes, it is more important than ever that Medicare Advantage plans and the beneficiaries they serve are ensured the stability and predictability that enables affordable and quality care available for seniors under Medicare Advantage.”
