Better Medicare Alliance Makes Key Policy Hires; Hires Senior Analyst as Policy Director

Better Medicare Alliance (BMA), the leading advocacy coalition dedicated to supporting and strengthening the Medicare Advantage program, announced it has hired Molly T. Turco as Director of Policy and Research

Washington, D.C. (February 19, 2016) – Better Medicare Alliance (BMA), the leading advocacy coalition dedicated to supporting and strengthening the Medicare Advantage program, announced it has hired Molly T. Turco as Director of Policy and Research.

Turco is a former senior health care policy analyst for Marwood Group, a healthcare-focused advisory and consulting firm where she led the payer analysis team focused on managed care, which specifically focused on Medicare Advantage and implementation of the Affordable Care Act. In this role, Turco provided healthcare-focused diligence and analysis, including in-depth coverage of regulatory and legislative catalysts to healthcare corporations and investors.

Prior to joining Marwood, Turco worked as a healthcare policy researcher. Turco provided research support as a Graduate Fellow in the State of Vermont Office of the Health Reform Director and for the Vermont Green Mountain Care Board during implementation of the of the Affordable Care Act.

Previously, Turco worked as a Special Projects Research Manager within the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) as part of UPHS’s involvement in Pennsylvania’s Chronic Care Initiative. In addition, Turco spent time as a Research Assistant at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Turco holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice. She also holds a BA from Middlebury College.

As Policy and Research Director at the Better Medicare Alliance, Turco oversees policy activities and works closely with President/CEO Allyson Y. Schwartz in crafting and articulating BMA’s policy positions. She also manages BMA research activities, including oversight of research projects, and coordination with research partners.

BMA also hired Amanda Hurley as Senior Policy Associate to expand the organization’s policy team. Hurley was most recently the Policy Director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). Before that, she served as the Legislative Director for Dr. Raul Ruiz (CA-36). She was the Western Research Director at the DCCC in 2012 and the Research Director for the Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico Diane Denish in the Governor’s race in 2010. She has a BA in American University in 2008 with a political science degree.
